Hi, I’m Alexander Fikiet, a chess teacher and lifelong player currently based in Brooklyn. I first learned the game when I was four years old, sitting across the board from my dad in Storrs, Connecticut. I’ve been playing rated chess since 2004, and over the years, it’s grown from a hobby into a huge part of my life.

I earned the National Master Title when I was 14; and during high school, I was consistently ranked in the top five in the country for my age group while becoming a four-time New England High School Champion. My peak USCF rating is 2368, and my peak FIDE rating is 2249. I’ve taken first place in tournaments like the Greater Boston Open, Bradley Open, New England Open, and the Eastern Class Championships.

I took a bit of a break from competitive chess during college, where I studied Economics and Statistics at the University of Connecticut and served as Vice President of the UConn Chess Club. These days, I focus on teaching— working with students of all ages and experience levels to help them grow as players and enjoy the game as much as I do.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to sharpen your tournament skills, I’d love to help you on your chess journey.
